息子の新たな挑戦（A New Chapter for My Son）

今日は、この４月に高校に進学した息子の新たなチャレンジのお話。

中学では見るのが好きだった野球を中学2年生からですが始めました。野球を極めたい、上手くなりたい、結果を残したいと言うのはあまりないようで、でもプレイをしてみたいと言うことで、また友人の勧めもあり短い期間ですが野球部に入りした。

そう言う姿勢ではあったので、高校で野球をやるつもりはないようでした。

では高校では何を始めるのかと興味はありましたが、口出しはしません。

決まったん？と思い出したようにLINEしますが、「別に〜」とか「まだ〜」とかのらりくらり。まさか帰宅部？

そしてついに決まりました❗️

「フリーミュージック部」

なんやそりゃ？

…

いわゆる軽音部だそうです🎸

1年生の3分の1が所属するそうな（笑）そんな中で意気投合したメンツでバンド組むそうです。

息子も6人でバンド組むそうです。

担当はギター。と言うことで買わされました💦

いっつもいっつも金かかること始めよるなぁ、ホンマ（笑）

ちゃんとモノにしてくれよ〜

いつぞやの誕生日にキーボード買ったんですが、なんでキーボード担当じゃないねん？人気ないんかな、バンドのキーボードって。

と言うことで私がキーボードをモノにすべく引き受けることにしました。

Today, I want to talk about the new challenge my son is taking on after starting high school this April.

Back in junior high, he was always more of a fan of watching baseball, but he actually started playing it himself in his second year. 

He didn't seem to have a burning desire to "master" the game or get amazing results; he just wanted to give it a try.

 So, partly thanks to a friend's recommendation, he joined the baseball team for a short while.

Given that laid-back attitude, I didn't think he had any intention of playing baseball in high school.

I was curious to see what he’d pick next, but I made sure not to interfere. 

I’d occasionally send him a LINE message like, "Have you decided yet?" only to get vague replies like "Not really..." or "Not yet." I started to wonder—is he just going to be in the "Going Home Club" (no club at all)?

But finally, he made a choice! ❗️

"The Free Music Club."

The what now?

Turns out, that’s just a fancy name for the Light Music (Pop/Rock) Club. 🎸

Apparently, a third of the freshman class joined! (Lol). He’s already found a group of like-minded guys to form a band with.

There are six of them in total, and his role? The guitar. Which meant... I had to buy him one. 💦

Seriously, he always picks the hobbies that cost me a fortune! (Lol). You’d better actually get good at it, kid!

I actually bought him a keyboard for his birthday a while back, so why on earth isn't he the keyboard player? Is the keyboard just not popular in bands these days?

So, I’ve decided to take over the keyboard myself and master it.

One day, I’m going to have a session with my son! 🎹
