The other day, I posted about my son joining the popular music club in high school. And not to be outdone, I mentioned that I started playing the keyboard too! I’ve been practicing like crazy for 17 days straight since the end of Golden Week❗️
I returned to Tokyo this weekend, so Saturday was the only day I couldn't touch the keys, but other than that, I’ve been playing for at least 5 minutes every single day.
For me, making it a daily habit to touch the instrument—even if only for a short time—is more important than how long I practice each session.
Thanks to that, my fingering has become quite smooth.
And look what I found at Book-Off: the Hanon exercises book I’d been searching for!
Time to move on to the next step.
Also, one more thing: the ukulele. I used to think ukulele straps only came in the hook-on-the-soundhole type, but it turns out you can attach a strap just like a guitar by installing an endpin!
Lately, our weekend family outings often involve trips to Shimamura Music. I spotted an endpin in the ukulele section and bought it on impulse. I even drilled the hole and installed it myself! For the strap, I’m using an extra one that came with my son’s guitar set.
Who would have thought the pin vice I bought back when I was obsessed with Mini 4WDs would come in handy like this? ☺️
It was just a minor modification, but it made me feel so much closer to my ukulele. Starting today, I’m practicing the ukulele alongside the keyboard! 😁
This time, I’m definitely going to master them❗️
