Today is my son’s junior high school graduation.
I just got back to Tokyo last night.
I felt the same way during my daughter’s graduation, but it feels like he was just a little elementary schooler only yesterday... and now he’s already heading off to high school! 😂
Kids grow up so fast, don't they? It’s a happy thing, but still.
Even though we’re parent and child, I feel it’s important to start treating him as an equal—as his own person.
Children aren't their parents' property, after all. Just because they are under our protection doesn't mean we should just force them to "do as they're told."
Of course, in exchange for that independence, he’ll need to take full responsibility for his own choices and actions.
Anyway, today I went for a photo walk for the first time in a while, bringing along my Nikon D200 and an Ai Nikkor lens. 🚶
I found out this variety of flowering peach is called "Genpei." It was the first time I’d ever seen one. It was such a beautiful flower that I couldn’t help but press the shutter.
The cherry blossom buds have also grown so large—they look like they’re ready to pop at any moment!
Since the sample tree at Yasukuni Shrine has officially been declared in bloom, I’m sure we’ll see the blossoms opening up everywhere over the weekend!
